Partnerships

PHC recognizes that we can’t do our work alone. We exist as an important part of a broader system of social services that must work together to meet the needs of those within our community. We are committed to continue a long tradition of building strong, trusting, and transparent relationships with our many community partners

Pioneering Housing Partnerships

Partnerships with community organizations have led to the development of innovative housing initiatives that provide wraparound services for residents

Our most recent project is an 85-unit supportive seniors’ housing initiative in partnership with Peterborough Regional Health Centre, the Central East LHIN, and the Peterborough Family Health Team. A mix of rent geared to income and market units will be available for medically fragile seniors who are too frail to live alone but not yet ready for long-term care. Health providers will deliver coordinated medical supports, such as personal support workers, to enable seniors in this building to age well in the comfort of their own home.

A new housing community in Havelock will combine seniors housing with a community service hub. Housing offered in this building will be a mix of rent geared to income and affordable units. Community Care Peterborough and VON are creating a community hub of social services to support the seniors living on site, as well as residents of the community who require better access to service.

Partnerships with Purpose

Boys and Girls Club Kawartha Lakes (BGCKL)
BGCKL works with PHC to deliver fun and empowering programs for children and youth living in our communities.

Kawartha Food Share (KFS)
KFS provides food for two food bank programs located in our family communities.

Community Care Peterborough
Community Care has offices located at two of our senior’s properties: Havelock and Lakefield. Residents living in these communities benefit from a variety of essential services, empowering them to live at home safely.

Nourish Peterborough
Through the support of Nourish, PHC offers property gardens at housing communities throughout our portfolio to provide a sustainable means of providing access to food for residents.

Trent University
PHC provides rewarding and challenging placement opportunities for students from a wide variety of academic programs.

Volunteer Income Tax Program (VITP)
Peterborough Housing partners with the VITP to offer annual income tax clinics to residents of our seniors and family communities.

VON Peterborough
VON fills the gap between independent living and long-term care by providing personal care supports for eight seniors living at PHC’s Spruce Corners property in Apsley. VON also offers Adult Day Care and home health supports from our senior’s housing property located in Havelock.
